Magikana is an authentic creation of British psy-culture, inspired by the spirit of the mystical landscapes and ancient lore of the British Isles.

The Magikana story began in 2002 as a free PsyTrance celebration of the Queen’s Golden Jubilee long weekend in the Cambrian Mountains. It was attended by crews from all over the UK and it became one of the earliest non-stop music gatherings in Britain. Since then the festival has become fully licensed and expanded to other forms and tempos of conscious psy music.

Even though Magikana has not happened every year, it has become etched in the collective memory as an authentic grassroots gathering of the tribes. After 24 years, Magikana can proudly say that it is the longest standing PsyTrance festival in the UK.

Since its 2012 edition, Magikana dates have been set for the third weekend of July, when UK schools break up for summer holidays. This is in line with the family-friendly ethos of Magikana Festival.

The Magikana experience is an extraordinary convergence of Myth, Nature, Sound and Visionary Arts at the heart of the world’s most ancient Cambrian Mountains. 

More than a festival, Magikana is a transformative holiday adventure in the enchanting nature of Wales.

Most music festivals in the UK are located near urban areas and therefore must significantly reduce bass levels and stop the music between 11 pm and 2 am. By contrast, a defining feature of Magikana Festival is its non-stop music programme and world-class sound design, allowing the full spectrum of sound to be experienced — deep, immersive and continuous.

Magikana has a 24-hour music license and, like similar music festivals in Europe and overseas, the music at Magikana is like a sacred fire which burns continously during 72+ hours. Being graced with no neighbours for miles presents us the opportunity to deploy some of the world’s finest Dragon Awakening Technologies.

As a sustainable festival, Magikana concentrates the programme on two high-quality main stages functioning around the clock, rather than having multiple small stages just for a few hours, with poor sound design or clashing between each other.

In the unique Magikana experience, the music programme is tastefully curated to create a world-class journey between the two main stages, the Wizard’s Pyramid (featuring Uptempo Psy) and the Dragon’s Grove (presenting Downtempo and Midtempo Psy).
